My very best friend Peggy and I were riding our horses in the mountains.
The trail climbed most of the morning winding through a forest trail. We crossed gentle brooks and halted often to let Rusk and JJ rest and to watch the wildlife we frequently encountered. We stopped for lunch in a high mountain plateau and marveled at the proud mountains rearing up behind us and the foothills and valleys stretching to the horizon before us. Breathtaking.
At times as we rode, we talked. About horses, school, family, expectations, dreams, struggles, no topic is off limits in the presence of a trustworthy friend. At other times, we were silent – just enjoying the day, the horses, nature, each other’s company.
Just before we reached the end of the trail where the truck and trailer were waiting, we let the horses drink in a wide stream. Both horses, love being in water, and we let them wade upstream in the knee-deep water. Soon steep tall cliffs closed in on either shore and we found ourselves enclosed in a rocky canyon. Trees growing at the top of the cliffs were silhouetted against a brilliant blue sky. The water was so clear it was nearly invisible and the colors and shapes and textures of the river bed rocks were mesmerizing.
I side-stepped Rusk closer to Peggy so she could hear me over the bubbling water. “I’m so glad you came. It would still have been an amazing experience if I’d come alone, but sharing it with you makes it so much better.”
Welcome to the Dressage Diva Blog. Over thirty-eight years of owning and loving horses, I have had some amazing experiences. Some great, some not so great, and some … well some have been absolutely crazy ridiculous. I’ve laughed, cried, been awed, scared, embarrassed and had more than my share of “ah ha” moments.
I’d like to share those experiences with you, and through these true stories, share with you the way God has used horses to teach me about myself, about navigating life, and most importantly, about Himself.
I hope you’ll enjoy the stories, and I hope that you’ll find the life parallels helpful and an encouragement. I’m excited to share these experiences with you, it will make them so much better!

Bravo, Dressage Diva! This is a fantastic idea. I’m sure God will bless many through your excellent writing skills.
